What is Rotary?

There are many definitions, but the most common is the following:

Rotary is an international association of professional and business people who are dedicated to human goals, they value and promote high ethical principles in business and private life, spreading goodwill and understanding in the world.

“Rotary” should be distinguished from “Rotary International” (RI), reflecting the world’s organizational structure (clubs and districts in all parts of the world, and the headquarters in Evanston, IL, USA).

Rotary International is the first worldwide “Service club” organization that currently has more than 1.2 million members in almost every country in the world.

Among other things, RI is due to its activities (such as “PolioPlus”, “World Understanding and Peace”, etc.), a non-governmental organization of international significance, recognized by the UN.

Funding of Rotary International projects and programs is done through the Rotary Fundation.

Rotary Fundation is a non-profit organization funded solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and Foundation friends sharing a vision of the better world. So far Rotarians have donated more than $ 2 billion to the Rotary Fundation.
